Samu Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 Sorry if a thread has been done on this before but Harry Potter is great. I finished the 6th book in the summer and I thought it was fantastic and I'm looking forward to the 7th and final book. I thought the 6th book was very well written as well as having quite a shock at the end, which I certainly didn't see happening till the final book. It's very pleasing, also, that I've managed to convert 2 or 3 of my friends to start reading it. I honestly believe that if a lot of people who have never read it and think it's childish or whatever gave it a try they would love it! Also quite looking forward to GOF film as although the films aren't great, it's still Harry Potter. Anyway if there's any other fans on the board let me know what your thoughts are on the 6th book and the series in general. Thanks, Sam
EmLeee Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 Can't wait for the 7th book. I loved the 6th and was gutted by the time I'd finished it (crying aswell shhh!) Can't wait for the next film - will be in the cinema on the day of elease- pre-book the tickets
Bluefoxtim Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 NO NO NO I bought the first Harry Potter to see what all the fuss was about. Sat down and started to read it. 25 pages in WTF this is ****! onto my bookshelf never to be looked at again

Sat down and started to read it. 25 pages in WTF this is ****! onto my bookshelf never to be looked at again Once you've read the later books you would see how much they have developed and have become written for a more adult audience. You can't base the whole Harry Potter on 25 pages from the first, it's tells you nothing about it all. Just give it a proper chance, I guarentee its better than you make it out to be
foxy_gal Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 I have to say I have not read any of the books but watch all the films so far,i really enjoyed the last film.
rossporterlc Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 sure is great, can't wait for book 7, p.s snape is a goody and pps i know who RAB is
Blue Arrow Posted 26 September 2005 Posted 26 September 2005 WARNING - DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU ARE STILL READING HARRY POTTER RAB?? snape isnt a "goody" - he kills dumbledore
rossporterlc Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 WARNING - DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU ARE STILL READING HARRY POTTER RAB?? snape isnt a "goody" - he kills dumbledore snape is a goody imo, it's only my theory but there we go RAB is the person who had beaten dumbledor and harry to the horcrux, someone told me who it was
CasinoGee Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 A good airport read, nothing more. People who take them so seriously as if they're epics of our generation make me laff. There are thousands of better books out there (and thousands worse)
Foxes_Wizard_Striker Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 Brilliant book have you all seen the trailer for the movie yet? It is looking very exiciting
Alexikokopops Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 WARNING - DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU ARE STILL READING HARRY POTTER RAB?? snape isnt a "goody" - he kills dumbledore Notice Snape hesitates when he's faced with the decision to kill Dumbledore, and Dumbledore says "Please Severus", and not "Don't" or something along those lines. He wanted Snape to kill him for the good of the Order so he could continue to work as a spy. Dumbledore was willing to make that sacrifice to stop Voldemort in the long run. He shoots he scores.

There are thousands of better books out there (and thousands worse) I find it hard to believe there's thousands of better books out there when you look at the whole phenomenon of Harry Potter. Each time a book is released the whole world (and yes I mean world as I was in NZ when the 6th book was released and every book shop went crazy) goes mad for Harry Potter. The books are all best sellers, if that all means their not epics of our generation then I'd find it hard to find any book which gets this much attention. I for one cannot wait for the final book as for the only time in my life these books are ones which basically encourage people like me to enjoy reading.
EmLeee Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 RAB? I had a theory there the sencond I read that bit. And Snape Killed Dumbledore ffs. He's evil full stop. said it from the start.

EmLeee Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Evil He killed Dumbledore. If he was that ' good ' he wouldn't have done that would he?
Alexikokopops Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Evil He killed Dumbledore. If he was that ' good ' he wouldn't have done that would he? Read what I put above. Also remember he'd made the unbreakable vow, so he had to kill Dumbledore for the good of the Order.
EmLeee Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Still not convinced. Maily because of the vow thing. he did that to protect Malfoy. Malfoy = Evil and snape saved him and killed Dumbledore in the process
rossporterlc Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 ' date='Sep 27 2005, 7:05 PM' post='183856']Notice Snape hesitates when he's faced with the decision to kill Dumbledore, and Dumbledore says "Please Severus", and not "Don't" or something along those lines. He shoots he scores. exactly my theory, dumbledore is no fool, he knows who he can trust and snape didn't kill harry at the end of the book when he had the chance, you have to remeber one of them had to die, snape had made that promise thingy, it was either both or just dumbledore
Alexikokopops Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Still not convinced. Maily because of the vow thing. he did that to protect Malfoy. Malfoy = Evil and snape saved him and killed Dumbledore in the process If he hadn't done the vow thing then it would have been a bit more obvious he was helping the order. Plus like Ross says he didn't kill Harry at the end when he could have easily done so.
