"lazy thick nigger" isn't a slip of the tongue it had real belief and strength when it was delivered , I'm sorry that's not a stupid slip of the human fatality of thought and speach being mixed up , it's a racist derogatory core belief expressed when he thought like minded or no one else was listening. Unforgivable Unforgivable? Entirely? As in there is nothing he could do to make ammends for previous errors? That's a very hard line to hold against people in general. In my short life I've witness and also received direct personal attacks (verbal as well as minor threats of physical harm) due to my race, religion, nationality and physical appearance. Some of those were quite definite and consciously held statements of prejudice. Like you say, not due to a slip of the tongue etc, but very deliberate in meaning and intent. But some of those same people are not the person they were back when they said those things or made those threats. If I didn't forgive them I would consider myself as small-minded as they once were. Not that it's easy, especially if you've been on the receiving end, but you've got to leave some way forward for people.
