But what was the other word in the title of the song? His first name is the same as the boxed Paterson from the pre-Ali era

Correct. Played for Cambridge United (and, no doubt, others as well)

Funny thing is I got Floyd Street from your clue 10 minutes ago and thought no one has ever been called that surely
