Guest Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 I ran a half-marathon the other week, some would say that I was probably quite healthy. However like Davieg, I have some sort of virus which isn't shifting. And despite training for this run, my weight and bodyfat has hardly moved, apart from one week when it dropped only to reappear and not shift.
New England Fox Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 I'm pretty unhealthy, but for the past month I've been going to the gym three times a week, so I'm working on changing it.
cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 Someone voted themselves as being "very healthy". I wonder if they will dare identify themselves?

It's pretty common for people who have run a marathon to come down with some kind of virus. If you've had this virus for a while, it could be the training for the half-marathon has put some strain on your system. In fact, training - while good - does put strain on the body and can dent your immune system. Contrary to popular belief, athletes often get colds! Do you feel stressed?

cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 I am, but that's work. Another reason why you may have the "non-shifting" bug. Try boosting your immune system in every way you know... what have you tried so far?
Guest Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 Another reason why you may have the "non-shifting" bug. Try boosting your immune system in every way you know... what have you tried so far? Multi vits and minerals, and ginseng. I think these are more stimulants though. When in need, reach for the Pro Plus. I have, over the years, improved my diet. I do admit I fall short of the recommended 5 fruit and veg, but everything I do make is fresh, and apart from the odd takeaway, we don't eat any convenience food (ready meals, stir in sauces and all that jive).
cisono Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 Unhealthy! Does that have anything to do with your score on the slag test?
