Rugby - Anyone explain

I don't profess to know the rules but how can you get sent off for trying to pick the ball out of some ruck but just get a telling off for holding someone on the ground and pummelling their face with your fist?

Cos there's no normal logic to a lot that goes on in rugby.

I have found that, if "think the other way round" (the opposite to what you'd expect), you're normally close to guessing right in rubgy :P

Mr Lisa played for a while, and has also referreed. From what he says, you basically make it up as you go along. For example, in a lineout, almost every player will be committing an offence, but the ref 'decides' which one, if any, he'll go for.
