Jimothy Posted 4 January 2020 Posted 4 January 2020 @spacemunky I searched the site to see if anybody had talked about this band on here in the past, and the only mention of them was a post by you in the "Depression" thread, so I'm asking for a few recommendations. As I understand it, The Tragically Hip have never really been popular outside their native Canada, to the point they could sell out a huge venue in Canada, cross the border a few miles to New York state and barely sell a ticket. I first heard of them just over a year ago when I was listening to a podcast about music and they were mentioned, and I immediately searched spotify to see what I could find. The song you mentioned in the other thread, Ahead by a Century, isn't on spotify, and it seems a lot of their back catalogue isn't on there. So @spacemunky what other gems would you recommend from them? I'll post a couple of the ones I did find that I liked.
spacemunky Posted 4 January 2020 Posted 4 January 2020 So many great songs as they had a long career up until Gord died in 2017. Oops posted two different version of New Orleans is Sinking. Anyway it's one of their classics so
Jimothy Posted 6 January 2020 Author Posted 6 January 2020 I feel I'm going to find myself in you tube wormhole checking all these out, but cheers for the tips. Just a shame that all their stuff doesn't seem to be on streaming services this side of the pond.
