Dear FTers,

I am finally back in Zambia after a quick break to visit family - still waiting for some of my luggage to arrive though! I thought I'd start a separate thread for the discussion we had previously about purchasing football equipment for young people, initially in Zambia and then potentially for other places in the future.

I've been talking to Mark and he is happy for us to proceed, using FT as a platform. I've also contacted the Foundation and the club (Jim via lcfchelp).

I'd like for us to put together a small committee of people who'd like to be involved reviewing short applications/briefs of clubs or organisations that could receive the support, approve the procurement of the equipment, and support promotional aspects of what we are doing (editing video, photos, social media etc.).

I know this seems like a bit of work, but my experience is that it is important to have transparency in these things to reduce the risk to all involved.

So, if you'd like to be involved, please message me directly and I'll set up a group message for us all to discuss next steps etc.

Looking forward to moving this forward.

Best, MC!

Quick update:

The elections are over and there will be a peaceful transition to the new Government. So I'll start to identify opportunities for us to support and get the JustGiving page up and running so we'll have an idea of how much we can help teams with.

I'm thinking of at least one team from Kafue to get the attention of Patson, but then it should be based on potential to utilise the results and need.
