Scow Posted 22 September 2004 Posted 22 September 2004 Not sure about Newell. Granted, he's doing a great job at Luton, but he's not been in management for that long.
gjp Posted 22 September 2004 Author Posted 22 September 2004 I dont know if i can take much more and even if MA takes us up we come straight back down again having been stuffed every week. I ask is that what were giving him time for to drive me nuts watching this when i could spend me money on "well anything" Im bored of him and his football oh i know hes a nice bloke and all that, but its crap come off it does it not drive you nuts aswell? i need to see some football at the walkers and from what the i have been hearing Luton under Newell are plying some nice stuff. Sorry no time for spell check or grammer i'm suppose to be working.

Obviously it's nice to watch a bit of entertaining football, but it's a results orientated business. We go to watch Leicester City because we support them, entertainment value is secondary. (It is for me.) But we're not getting results against teams that we should roll over, and we don't look like getting them either. I wouldn't mind if our direct style of play was effective like last time in this division, but it isn't - We lack any movement, pace, width, creativity and flair - Micky is mainly responsible for this because he chooses the players, he chooses the formation - I can see every home game being like Burnley, Watford, Brighton et al if teams come to sit back. We have no answer for it. Might be a help if we were actually any good at set pieces, but we seem to have lost that ability we had. I honestly feel Micky is losing the plot. He doesn't know his best XI, he won't drop underperforming players, and at the same time won't pick performing players who are doing a great job in the reserves. Micky is a reputation man, not a performance man. He doesn't want to learn from his mistakes, he's too stubborn. It's his way, or no way, and it's costing him. The more someone tells him he's wrong, the more stubborn he will get.

To be honest, if we lost games, but had put everything into it, then I would be happier than I am now, despite 7 points out of 9 from the last 3 games.
Ash Posted 22 September 2004 Posted 22 September 2004 I agree with RovRum , Give Micky some more time
Hullfox Posted 22 September 2004 Posted 22 September 2004 He'll of had 3 years soon! 20905[/snapback] And in those three years, the majority of clubs would not have had to fight administration and won promotion to the premier league. On results alone, that would put him in the upper quartile of achievers.
Guest Daniel Posted 22 September 2004 Posted 22 September 2004 Did Micky Adams do everything to get us out of Admin though? Did he have any of his own players in the promotion side?
BartonFox Posted 22 September 2004 Posted 22 September 2004 Newell did his best to blow a huge lead while in charge at Hartlepool infact Rushden caught them and won the title. He got the bullet for that. Last year at Luton he seriously underachieved and with the squad he has at his disposal he should be clear in Div 2. Perhaps if MA got some decent backroom staff he'd fair a lot better.

They had the smallest squad in the division, they had to field two keepers under the age of 17 on the bench just to fil the squad one season. They were in administration and he wa sonly allowed to sign one keeper and loan out a stroker all season, they also signed a player from local side Hitchin. Every Luton fan thought they were going to go down when kineer got sacked, they are now top of the league and flying.
