Filbert Fox Posted 24 September 2004 Author Posted 24 September 2004 It is a fact of sporting life that not every team can be successful, and success is relative. However life is a lot easier to bear with the knowledge that at least everyone has given their all and tried their best. Is this the case at Leicester? I leave you to judge. How do you think the players and manager would fare in a 'normal' workplace? What is management about - organisation, preparation, motivation, flexibility and adapting to circumstances .....How many ticks does Mickey Adams score there? When was the last time you heard Wenger and Ferguson say publicly he was 'disgusted' by his players' performance like Micky did after the Brighton game. Alright it was bad, but he can not just wash his hands of it!
Anish Posted 24 September 2004 Posted 24 September 2004 I agree that Adams has a few similarities to Taylor - rubbish football, mostly rubbish signings, and a fair amount of arrogance too. How can he have the audacity to lament the critics when we are languishing in 13th position, have only scored in 1 of 5 home games, and have been made to look mediocre by Watford, Brighton, Burnley etc, is beyond me. So what about the 7 points out of 9?? What about the previous 1 point from 12 - why doesn't Micky use that stat?!

Get real, we're not Arsenal or Man Utd, we're Leicester. We're a small time club that got lucky in the 90's. Our 15 minutes of fame is gone for now so get used to it. We are the same as a host of other clubs who enjoyed a brief flirtation with success before refinding their true level. Leeds Ipswich Blackburn Forest Derby Sunderland Sheff Weds Wimbledon (RIP) To name but a few. If it's full time success you want, you're in for a long long wait.

The first part of my post has been conveniently ignored altogether, with regard to relative success and effort. Money oils the wheels but it is not everything. Much as I would love Leicester to compete in the Champions League I do not expect it. That does not stop them being successful - it is not all about winning trophies. Even then some trophies are better than others. I think you will find the vast majority of clubs including Premiership clubs have to trawl the lower divisions for talent or develop it themselves. Even Wenger and Ferguson had to start somewhere - they were not always at the top with MUFC and Arsenal. They have had to pay their dues. Also nothing stays the same for ever. Finally the principles of good management are the same whether you are at the pinnacle, the bottom or in between. However the capacity to apply them varies.
