Filbert Fox Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 Adams' attitude is very reminiscent of Peter Taylor. Nothing is ever his fault or down to him - it is always someone elses fault. Take some responsibilty, man. Sort it out!!

Sort it out!! 21138 When has he denied anything was his fault please? 21164 - Everytime a bad result happens he brings up either the fact we went into administration 2 seasons ago, the fact we have no money or La Manga - If he does blame himself (rare) he doesn't say 'I' or 'me' he says 'Micky Adams'. - Instead of facing up to the critism he gets Alan Cork to do all thje post match interviews sometimes. - Often after a bad result he just says "we will be working hard on the training pitch to sort these problems"
Scow Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 I can't remember Micky ever taking the blame for any performance - He just get's very defensive.....
Oli Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 He has never blamed himself once. This is the thing taht annoys me about Adams, he cant step upto the fact taht it is his fault!
Hullfox Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 So he's not actually said "it's not my fault" then?

Wouldn't use of all three point towards the same person? - Instead of facing up to the critism he gets Alan Cork to do all thje post match interviews sometimes. - I thought he took it well on the chin after the Brighton game when the fans chanted what a waste of money. - Often after a bad result he just says "we will be working hard on the training pitch to sort these problems" - Do you mean that is the solitary thing he says or the fact that he says it annoys you? Do you actually expect him not to be working hard on the training pitches?

Guest Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 - If he does blame himself (rare) he doesn't say 'I' or 'me' he says 'Micky Adams'. This one really gets on my goat. "I" or "me" are both pronouns, and suggest that the person using them has some, what's the word, feeling (?) of self-being. To refer to yourself by your name, a noun, this suggests to me a person who is trying to seperate themselves for themselves, if you see what I mean. It's like he's not taking responsibility of himself, by taking the 'possesiveness' out of the way he speaks about himself. It all makes perfect sense to me, anyway.
Filbert Fox Posted 23 September 2004 Author Posted 23 September 2004 hullfox, are you in fact Peter Taylor? Or just similarly pedantic? Allegedly.
Micky Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 hullfox, are you in fact Peter Taylor? Or just similarly pedantic? Allegedly. 21232 Nope, I think you'll find hullfox is actually looking at the true picture!

Ok so not every match but alot of things he has blamed on those things, he blamed relegation last season on La Manga! - If he does blame himself (rare) he doesn't say 'I' or 'me' he says 'Micky Adams'. - Not sure of the point here. Wouldn't use of all three point towards the same person? By saying 'Micky Adams' it's as if he is moving the blame to some one else and some of the blame is taken off him slightly, like Lisa said. - Instead of facing up to the critism he gets Alan Cork to do all the post match interviews sometimes. - I thought he took it well on the chin after the Brighton game when the fans chanted what a waste of money. Did he take the blame though? No. - Often after a bad result he just says "we will be working hard on the training pitch to sort these problems" - Do you mean that is the solitary thing he says or the fact that he says it annoys you? Do you actually expect him not to be working hard on the training pitches? What annoys me about this is that he says it after bad results, then the next game comes along and we look just as crap and make the same mistakes! What does MA say....."we will be working hard on the training pitch to sort these problems" <_< It's just a thing to say to avoid owning up to the truth.
Hullfox Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 hullfox, are you in fact Peter Taylor? Or just similarly pedantic? Allegedly. 21232 Not trying to be pedantic, just daring to stick up for Mickey which puts me well into the minority on these boards. I wholeheartedly agree that we are underperforming and part of that underperformance is down to Mickey, however, broad brush statements like those you made are plain wrong. If you cannot substantiate your arguments then don't make them. He is not totally to blame for our position, not by a long chalk but I don't expect for one minute to change your views.

If he wanted to share out the "blame" he would constantly say "we". Surely.
Guest Daniel Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 BlueMistress will not be joining in this argument as he feels he could cause an argument buy speaking his mind. I feel BlueMistress doesnt like Micky Adams and blames him totally for the posistion we are in, if its not his his poor signings or poor tactics he is to blame. BlueMistress will no longer be posting in this thread and would like to end this b working on his posts at home.
Filbert Fox Posted 23 September 2004 Author Posted 23 September 2004 I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest here (no offence to Watford intended). However some of us seem to be indulging in a discussion about semantics, and losing sight of the original point. Micky Adams is paid a lot of money to 'manage' the team - a task that he is patently not fulfilling. This is my OPINION and I have a right to express it. I do not and can not insist that you agree with it. I thought that was the whole point of a bulletin board.
Guest Daniel Posted 23 September 2004 Posted 23 September 2004 I agree with you mate, im the official Micky Adams hater anyway. Cant stand the bloke, couldnt manage a good shit if you ask me. All that gets bought up by the Micky Mouse Fanclub is the fact he took us up when we were in Administration. But none of them were his players, he was left a squad that was a prmotion side anyway. Weird people. Adams Out!

Ric Flair Posted 24 September 2004 Posted 24 September 2004 I have a friend that talks in third person mode and it does my head in. It is a clear sign that he loves himself and he is arrogant and think's he's the bollocks when he's far from it, just like Micky. If Micky was doing a good job, this wouldn't be a problem as he would have the right to speak like that. At the end of the day he's nothing to write home about, so why speak like your important when your not. Nice chap though

Weird people. Adams Out! 21270 BM you made me laugh like a drain mate. 6 minutes ago you said that you were abstaining from this thread but couldn't resist it. Proper passion even if you and I don't agree. Think it's funny that people (not you mate) make the argument that they weren't his players but applaud the achievements of Mike Newell who gained promotion with a set of inherited players and actually suggest him as mickey's replacement. I don't mind you not liking Mickey, you have always said that. What I don't like is the sweeping comments that people make against him that are wrong, that serves only to distract from some of the well thought out (and justified) criticism that is made. Managing a team isn't always easy. Look at poor Gary Megson. On the face of it looking as though he's strengthened his team and all of a sudden it's gone to rats. Maybe they should have a job swap.

He is the succesful manager of Hull City who have by far the best stadium in the lower leagues, secured promotion from the old division three on gates that regularly exceed 15,000. They are already well placed in League One and he is now once more manager of the under 21's. If that's obscurity i'm after some of it.
nikko Posted 24 September 2004 Posted 24 September 2004 It's not just Mickeys results/style of play make people miffed it is also his attitude - see todays quote: With a swipe at the criticism of how the season has gone so far, Adams added: "Apparently seven points out of nine is not good enough for some people, but we are happy with our week's work and we would like to follow that with some more positive results. That is what we will be hoping to achieve. "In an ideal world we would like to carry on this run. "We have put together three results, although whether or not we have put in the performances is debatable. I imagine he means us fans who have the audacity to complain about the crap we have to watch!
nikko Posted 24 September 2004 Posted 24 September 2004 Have to watch????? 21294 Bought season ticket in high hopes, so far not fulfilled

It looks to me like he sees no reason for any blame to be aportioned in the first instance.
