You ever played Championship Manager / Football Manager on multiplayer mode and send a manager goes on holiday just leaving the computer to play the same team and same formations each week ... it feels like that - but in the game the substitutions are less planned

I don't understand why the simple and often effective 4-4-2 has been ditched for more complicated ways of playing. Applies to many teams in the entire EFL and PL.
