Gené and Tonic Posted 7 January 2006 Share Posted 7 January 2006 From BBC Sport: Preston sign Whaley from Shakers Preston have signed Bury midfielder Simon Whaley for an initial £250,000. Whaley, who favours the right side of midfield, has scored seven goals for the Shakers this season, has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal. Preston boss Billy Davies said: "It's a tremendous signing. He's a young player with great potential, and his pace and ability will be fantastic assets." Whaley, 20, could eventually cost Preston £300,000 if he makes sufficient appearances for the club. Seems like Bury are becoming a sort of feeder club for Preston. This would have been a great signing for us
Nationwider Posted 7 January 2006 Share Posted 7 January 2006 He's a very good prospect - I'm sure we would have had him watched, particularly as we were after Kazim-Richards.
Nationwider Posted 16 January 2006 Share Posted 16 January 2006 And now they've signed Brian Stock. Grrrrr. <_< Two really promising midfielders for £400K - cheap as chips. Not exactly headline news, I know, but Whaley and Stock would wipe the floor with most of the current City midfield.
Gené and Tonic Posted 16 January 2006 Author Share Posted 16 January 2006 Billy Davies - great manager. But then again, who wouldn't look great up against Levein?
