davieG Posted 10 October 2004 Posted 10 October 2004 I'm finding I can't play any of the video links on here, I keep getting this message in windows media: Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name may be incorrect or the server is busy. Try again later.[/B] When I click for more information I get this: 0xC00D1198: Cannot connect to the server Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server hosting the content you want to play. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: The name of the server hosting the content is not valid. If you typed a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address in the Open URL dialog box, ensure that the file name is spelled correctly and the path to the file is correct, and then try again. If you clicked a link on a Web page, the link may not be valid. The server is busy and is not accepting new connections. Try to connect to the server at a later time. The proxy server settings for Windows Media Player are not configured properly. Verify that your proxy server settings are correct. To verify your proxy server settings On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Network tab, and then verify your settings in the Streaming proxy settings area. Note If you do not know what your proxy server settings should be, on the Network tab, select a protocol, click Configure, and then select Autodetect proxy settings or Use proxy settings of the Web browser (available for HTTP protocol only). Error ID = 0xC00D1198, Condition ID = 0x00000000 On the Tools Menu I only have Internet Options and within that there isn't a Network Tab. Any ideas are welcome -- Thanks
Oli Posted 10 October 2004 Posted 10 October 2004 I had that problem. For me it was because my speakers werent set up to run on Windows XP office. So I had to reboot my whole PC and set it up on normal XP. I don't know if it is the same problem for you though. If i was you i would ring PC World helpline and tell them.
