Louise Posted 23 February 2006 Share Posted 23 February 2006 It's Centreback Mountain By ALASTAIR TAYLOR A FOOTBALL team has become the butt of jokes thanks to their calendar  which shows players dressed like the gay cowboys in hit movie Brokeback Mountain. Huddersfield Town slashed the price of the souvenir from £5.99 to £1 this week because supporters were too embarrassed to buy it. But in the last few days sales have shot up, as fans do their best to stop other clubs getting hold of a copy and taking the mickey. A source said: “The calendar’s wording has not helped  it says it shows ‘12 reasons to get behind Town’.†It shows Terriers players such as Lee Fowler, plus Adnan Ahmed and Gary Taylor-Fletcher in Western gear. The garb was picked because academy players who make it to the Division One team are dubbed “young gunsâ€Â. But it backfired when the film starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal was released last month. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006080512,00.html Anyone fancy a similar calendar from Leicester? Louise Posted 24 February 2006 Author Share Posted 24 February 2006 One of the stranger marketing stunts I've seen, never mind the bad timing. I wonder if Mace advises them... I heard that since The Sun published that article demand for the calendars has gone up and they might have to re-print.
