The People's Hero Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 Yeah, although play in the Maidstone area. Firstly ask around in your local. Cricketers tend to be a beer loving breed and will always go back to a local after their game with the opposition for a beer. Lanlords will usually have details or at least know of the person you need to speak to to hook up with your local side. Secondly, try the local rag. Mine (Kent Messenger) always has our scores etc in it so easy to identify a couple of local sides. The contact details can then often be obtained from the internet. Once you've made contact simply explain your position (ie you want to play cricket) - if the club has net sessions, you'll probably be invited to join in on one of those so that they can roughly assess your standard (some clubs have 1sts/2nds League side/Friendly side or at least Saturday/Sunday side). Otherwise, if they don't have nets, they'll probably ask your availability and give you a go in a friendly. Hope this helps, I may well just have stated the obvious Enjoy mate!

Jonbluefox9 Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 I play cricket for Quorn. Haven't played for the mens yet but not too far off now as I've been asked to and quite a few of my mates from the under 17s play for the mens too. If you start off playing second team cricket then if you impress (and the first team isn't amazing) then you've got a good chance of being moved up to the first team. Be careful about joining a club with a big junior section as, depending on your age and other things, you could well be roped into doing the jobs no-one else wants like coaching the junior teams. I actually do this but I go to train on the same nights as the juniors so I may as well help out the juniors whilst I'm there.
