macbeth Posted 12 June 2006 Posted 12 June 2006 this world cup has been a fantastic feast of football so far germany excellent choice of venue i couldn't help thinking that as the game is predominantly a winter sport played in temperate zones the choice of venue is singularly the most important thing in dictating the quality we can expect' i would love to see fifa make a decision that would preclude any future venues where temperature/humidity /altitude ;severely affect the quality.....personally i don't want to see any more like mexico /japan etc i think all future venues should fall into a northern european type climate and that fifa should not pander to the politically correct brigade who seem to want a tournament in the tropics...........
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2006 Posted 12 June 2006 No matter what, some people will always find a reason to moan. I agree with the view on the WC so far, cracking games (for most part), great atmosphere. Exciting to watch. Your comment on the weather influence, however, is a bit of a joke. Up until a few days back, it was raining all over the place in Germany. Teams from the Southern Hemisphere, or close to the Aquator, who are used to sunshine, struggled with cold temperatures, rain, gusts. The conditions are the same for every single team in the tournament. In all the matches they're playing.

crazy horse Posted 12 June 2006 Posted 12 June 2006 i totally agree this is the type of football most people want to watch at world cup not some stroll around a 100 degree cauldron
