Collymore Posted 25 August 2006 Share Posted 25 August 2006 Link RECENT HISTORYThe last time the clubs faced each other, it was in the F A Cup in January 1997. The Foxes again won 2-0 at Filbert Street, with Steve Claridge and Ian Marshall on target. However, Southend's last league visit to Filbert Street, in September 1995, brought their only victory in Leicester to date, a 3-1 triumph courtesy of a Julian Hails hat-trick. I remember that game, seems like yesterday. Time is certainly flying. FOOT IN BOTH CAMPSThe smattering of players to have represented both clubs over the years includes Lawrie Dudfield, Pat Carrigan, Jimmy Dawson, Bobby Kellard, Ian McNeill, Paul Matthews, Spencer Prior and Steve Yates. The clubs have also shared two past managers in Tom Mather and Peter Taylor, whilst the most famous connection is surely Arthur Rowley, who played for City and managed the Shrimpers. Lazy Fecking journalism - They've only left out the most important player of them all - ME!!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 August 2006 Share Posted 25 August 2006 Southend to me will always mean Steve Walsh and Tommy Wright, one of THE best Leicester away games of all time.
