Ultra Posted 6 September 2006 Posted 6 September 2006 Much ado about nothing. The TV footage was inconclusive. And the umpires would have seen the ball shortly afterwards, and didn't spot ANYTHING wrong with it!
Shum Posted 7 September 2006 Author Posted 7 September 2006 Still a silly boy to do it in the current climate!
lcfc_jme Posted 7 September 2006 Posted 7 September 2006 Still a silly boy to do it in the current climate! Maybe so as Nasser Hussain himself said. But that footage there doesn't prove anything conclusive either way, and so nothing will come of it. Maybe wrapping the ball in his shirt and giving it a good rub to clean it would be more appropriate?? Or on the trousers as they do in a test??

That's ordinarily to shine the ball rather than to clean it. As for the argument of 'cleaning' it... why would the ball be muddy? These are extraordinary pitches these days.. the ball shouldn't get muddy. If they're talking about sweat, pace bowlers like to rub sweat in to the ball to encourage reverse swing. I say just make ball tampering (within reason) legal. They should also make drugs legal in athletics. He who can handle most drugs - wins.

He who can handle most drugs wins? that's quality I guess. Would that mean you would be the winner then? Not saying you take drugs but I reckon you'd have the capability to handle a fair few if you wanted
