Benji Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 when stewart was left onside earlier and the reading player fouled him why does this not earn a red card? he was not the last man as there was another player running ahead of them but this isn't my point the player who fouled stewart went into the tackle with 100% intent of bringing him down, this preventing a goal scoring opportunity surely? the current law is about being the last man isn't it? But my main argument is; it seems pretty ridiculous how Nalis bouncing a ball on the ground (and it never even travelled!!!!) can warrant an equal punishment as someone fouling another player intentionally to prevent a goal scoring opportunity and the handball on the goal line....don't get me started on that! still, i suppose playing as poorly as we did can only justify loosing like we did, feel sorry for stearman being on the losing side
andy_croydz Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 i agree benji i thought it was a joke nalis got a yellow card and that handball wasnt even givin thats about as bad as maradona's that was instead of scoring though he prevented us from scoring and going 1-0 up which would have made us more confident and probably have won.

The only alternative is to introduce either another colour card or a sin bin as in yellow card for minor misdemeanours; Sin bins for serious mis-conduct/goal preventing tackles and red for serious dangerous play or physical assault, probably need better definitions. This wouldn't solve the problem, there would still be disagreements but it would at least provide another option.

Scow Posted 12 December 2004 Posted 12 December 2004 The ref was a cluless arse - How he awarded a free kick to Reading despite Nalis winning the ball cleanly was beyond me. He also let their striker Kitson get away with flailing arms and elbows throughout the game on Dabizas/Dublin without punishment. There were other things he did aswell, but I don't want to be enraged further...
