spirefox Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Having seen Reading do to us what we did to Leeds last week,it is clear that the present squad is just not good enough to mount a promotion push.Yet again our lack of cutting edge and individual mistakes(Williams and Scowcroft not marking/picking up their men)have cost us dearly. This all too familiar pattern was depressingly reminiscent of the MA &Harry/Howard era. Unless Levein can do some wheeling and dealing, we have no chance of becoming consistant winners. Our fate will be determined in the boardroom-Oh dear......

He did warn us before today that two back to back wins doesn't mean we've cracked it and I think we all realised that too but today just highlighted the fact. One of the positives is that it was clear for all to see what we need to practice and improve and I'm confident that Craig, Rob, Peter and Kenny will have noted the same things and be working on them for the next week for the Forest game. The only worry for me is that there's too many things that need improving. Levein could do with a pre-season with them all. He had done a lot of work on the defence and he had started to look good but then he turns his attention to the strikeforce and the defence start to slacken. That's not Craig's fault but it's a fact that the squad as a whole is still very poor on many aspects of the game.
Matt Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Bring in a few younger player...they want to play, they want to prove themselves and this was proved by Stearman today, these bunch of jokers reckon they can just walk into the team! I'm not saying this is the soloution but whats the worst that can happen? We are losing with the first team players so if we play a few of the younger players and we lose, whats the problem?

Dawson could easilly replace Gemmill but I wouldn't say Gemmill played shit today just his corners and energy levels were below the acceptable standard. He was all round average as were most of them.

He seems to have been left out until today and is plying his trade in the reserves. He's now below Blake who didn't show anything great today apart from his improved fitness. Maybe Craig isn't wanting to offer Benji a new contract in the summer so has left him out completly.
