cisono Posted 21 October 2006 Posted 21 October 2006 Anyone making use of BoltBlue? Went to their site as they were advertising free SMS to several countries. You enter your message, they ask for your number for confirmation (anti-spam) purposes... fair enough and next page they tell you they sent you a message with your login info and... Text back "OK" to send your message at the bottom of this page... in small characters.... they inform you that this is a subscription service that costs £3 a week! (If you reply "OK", you are saying ok to the subscription!) What a dodgy way of making business...
Matt Posted 21 October 2006 Posted 21 October 2006 I used to use Boltblue all the time, and used to send message off the site quite often but not used it for years now. Seemed alright back then.

Seemed alright back then. Not used it in years, but back in the day BB was brilliant. The problem is, they didn't used to have a business model that would generate any sort of proper revenue. Out the window went all the free stuff and in came the money-spinning ideas. Same with all websites that were cool in the late 90s - in the dotcom bubble era, you didn't need to make money, you needed to look good and get bought out by someone who had money. Those days have passed.

Those days have passed. It is DODGY now. KEEP AWAY at all costs. Did not send any text messages or subscribe but I will still probably be charged £1.50-£3 to "cancel" a subscription which their automated system (reachable by calling an 0870 number) stated I did not hold with them.
