Milky Posted 15 November 2006 Posted 15 November 2006 Micah Richards made an impressive debut. Perfect replacement for neville in a couple of years.
Thracian Posted 15 November 2006 Posted 15 November 2006 What a drab game of football. I reckon it would be interesting to have an official simply select the team and ask the players to then go out and play as well as they can. The demise of visual football goes back to Allen Wade whose coaching manual discouraged individuals taking people on and encouraged instead the triangular passing movements, ways to develop two versus one situations and the idea of passing into a defence to draw a defender and back out so that the next passer could aim into the space behind the defender. Still with me? If not don't worry. I also wish I'd never even seen the sodding book. In fact if I'd been Prime Minister and had known that people like McLaren were still following Wade's principles and taking so much joy out of football I'd have decreed that the books should be burned. I notice he's another of the "one goal lead is enough school" of coaches too. God help us.
