uncle_connolly Posted 30 November 2006 Posted 30 November 2006 Hi everyone, As Christmas approaches I'm thinking about getting a Rodney Fern personalised shirt and I was wondering what number was he when he played for City? Thanks all. Uncle.
Ultra Posted 30 November 2006 Posted 30 November 2006 Number 7. At least that was his number in the 1969 cup final.
chesterfox Posted 30 November 2006 Posted 30 November 2006 memories. memories - you've got me started now. My first City game was a shitty Tuesday night with the skies opened with enough rain to last a year v Blackpool. The game only just got the go ahead and in all honesty should n't have been. It was a bit of a farce and my main memory was a Rodney Fern goalbound shot which stopped in the mud on the goalline.
gosfox Posted 30 November 2006 Posted 30 November 2006 As Christmas approaches I'm thinking about getting a Rodney Fern personalised shirt and I was wondering what number was he when he played for City? Number 7 for sure was his preffered position but back in the good old days they didn't keep a number for the season as they do now.... they got the shirt number for whatever position they played in i.e. 7- right winger, 8-inside right, 9-centre forward, 10-inside left, 11-left winger What a charactor Rodney Fern was ......LCFC's own Marty Feldman......I wonder what he is doing now
Chandler Posted 1 December 2006 Posted 1 December 2006 Rodney wore 9 for much of the 1969 -70 season after Andy Lochead left. Scored with an amazing bicycle kick (from a cross by Lennie) on the opening day of that season against Birmingham. We won 3-1. Over 35,000 turned up. And that was the old division two!
