lookwhaticando Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 You didn't propose to someone in the past few days did you? It's just a friend of mine's mum and a friend just got back from Switzerland. One of the women has been dating some bloke in Switzerland long-distance (i.e. from Canada) for quite some time and he proposed when she went over there last week. I just wondered if it was you... since you're connected to both Switzerland and Canada. If so... good on you. If not... as you were.

One can assume they're not really my age category, eh? No, unfortunately, it's not me. Although I've got some very good female friends overseas, as well. And if I had more certainty where I was going, I'd consider similar steps, too. But... Err... How did that long-distance thing work out, anyway? I mean, you can't really be together apart from MSN'ing and maybe video conferences... But congrats to the two, made a good choice, I guess. I love Canadian Girls!

I love Canadian Girls! I'd imagine they're a bit older than you... I don't know the "friend" (who's got hitched) but I'd imagine she was well advanced into her 40s. Don't ask how long-distance relationships work... that must take some doing, especially to get to the stage where they're now engaged. Takes all sorts, I suppose. Either one of them is loaded and they visit each other regularly (doubtful) or they just use MSN/Phone/Video. Either way, it can't be easy. Still, now that they're engaged, they have a completely different kettle of fish to deal with!

lookwhaticando Posted 30 January 2007 Author Posted 30 January 2007 That's a bit of a long shot! Stranger things have happened. Besides, there is some connection, which is what I was playing on... It's not like he's just some Swiss bloke... he's connected to Canada. That narrows it down enormously, I'd say. After all, there's only 7,523,934 living in Switzerland as of about 6 months ago... so it's 1 in 7.5 million at worse... it's probably one in a million if you look at people who've been to Canada and perhaps one in 50,000 who've lived in Canada***. *** Proportion estimates are wild , completely ungrounded in truth and no doubt completely inaccurate. But they sure as hell look good in black and white.

Amazing that....
MC Prussian Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 You two manage to drag every serious thread into a two-person comedy... I'll propose later in the day. To an elephant.
