And I think you'll be getting Liuzzi.

Liuzzi and Speed were the drivers last year. I assume they'll be together this year, and the other guy will be the test driver.

Nah you can give us the drivers. I'm sure we won't cry if they're not ours.... they're not even good anyway so it doesn't matter who gets who really.

Well to be fair theres always a chance you can finish mid-table.

With the tough rules I gave out (about retirement) teams around you like BMW Sauber and Red Bull could lose points and thats your chance to make a difference..

Well.. the teams chance :P

Just some views from F1 fans..

Just visited the F1 website and there's a poll asking who they think will be driving for Toro Rosso this year.

Very few think both will remain at the team

The other options are close with people thinking 1 of Scott Speed or Vitantonio Liuzzi will be driving this year.

Looks like one of your drivers may be changing..

FYI ^^ Dan and Joe

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa made a triumphant return to the test track on Wednesday, clocking the fastest lap of the day in Jerez. Massa, who missed Tuesday’s session through illness, lapped the Spanish circuit in 1m 19.647s in the F2007 - just over one-tenth quicker than Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber.

Fully recovered from the flu which had stopped him testing a day earlier, Massa covered 46 laps as he kick started his week’s programme. The Brazilian was joined by team mate Kimi Raikkonen, who ended the session in fourth, after a technical problem on his F2007 curtailed his running. Both return on Thursday.

At BMW Sauber, Kubica, who ran 97 laps while carrying out set-up and aero evaluations, was joined by Nick Heidfeld, 11th, who replaced tester Sebastian Vettel in the second F1.07. As it was Heidfeld’s opening day in Jerez with the new car, he concentrated predominantly on set-up before testing different brake cooling configurations. Test driver Timo Glock will take over from Kubica on Thursday to get his first run in the F1.07.

Lewis Hamilton’s third slot for McLaren was backed up by the fifth-fastest time clocked by team mate Fernando Alonso. The pair continued development work on the MP4-22, and also assessed the brakes and power steering of the team’s 2007 challenger. Although Alonso stopped out on track in the afternoon following an oil pressure problem, he was able to return almost immediately and completed his test plan for the day.

Nelson Piquet Jr enjoyed a strong showing for Renault in sixth, while fellow tester Ricardo Zonta was 14th in his second day with his new team. Zonta spent the session acclimatising to the French squad as he began a comprehensive technical programme.

Williams’s positive performance from Tuesday was once again in evidence, with Alexander Wurz and Nico Rosberg seventh and eighth respectively. The pair spent the day checking mechanical and aero set-ups on the two FW29s and also carried out some longer runs to test the reliability of the team’s 2007 car.

Ralf Schumacher was ninth for Toyota, while team mate Jarno Trulli, on his first day in the TF107 at the Spanish track, finished 15th. A productive morning spent trying different suspension options was followed by a much more disrupted afternoon. While a small repair on Trulli’s car cost him time after lunch, Schumacher’s car caused a red flag after stopping out on track.

“We were not able to do as many laps in the afternoon after Ralf suffered a gearshift problem soon after lunch which needed quite a long time to fix,†explained Gerd Pfeiffer, Toyota’s test team manager. “Jarno was able to do more laps and that gave us the chance to test the car on some longer runs, although he lost a bit of time when a small repair was needed in the fuel tank.â€Â

Red Bull also fielded both their race drivers for a second day, with Mark Webber taking 10th and David Coulthard 12th. The pair covered over 100 laps in total, both in the team’s new RB3 chassis. Completing the timesheets were the two Hondas of Jenson Button, 13th, and Marco Andretti, 16th. While Button drove the team’s new car, IndyCar driver Andretti took charge of the older RA106 as he tested for the second time with the team.

New Toro Rosso to appear next week?

09 February 2007

The Toro Rosso team have invited the world’s media to a press day in Barcelona next week - even though they cannot promise their new car will be ready for the event.

Toro Rosso are one of just two teams (Super Aguri being the other) still to unveil their 2007 machines. In a statement they said the STR2 should be ready very soon, but conceded they “are not sure exactly whenâ€Â.

What they have promised is that senior team management - including co-owner Gerhard Berger and team principal Franz Tost - will be present at the Circuit de Catalunya next Tuesday to answer the press’s questions.

Toro Rosso also said their drivers will be in attendance, suggesting their 2007 race line-up could finally be confirmed. Although Berger has previously admitted Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed are well placed to retain their seats, the team have so far resisted making any official announcements.

BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld topped the timesheets on Thursday, after a wet final day of testing in Jerez. Heidfeld, who was the only driver to go quicker than 1m 30s, clocked a lap in 1m 29.497s - over half a second faster than Alexander Wurz in the Williams. BMW Sauber tester Timo Glock was third quickest, emphasising the team's impressive form in tricky conditions.

Heidfeld covered 34 laps as he fine tuned the F1.07’s traction control and made some diagnostic checks, while Glock had his first proper run in the team’s new car. The pair initially went out on extreme wet tyres before switching to Bridgestone's standard wet tyres. In the afternoon, as conditions worsened, the team decided to abandon the test.

Although Renault, with their two testers Nelson Piquet Jr and Ricardo Zonta in attendance, chose to stop testing after a few installation laps, other teams, with race drivers at their disposal used the wet conditions as an opportunity to evaluate the best set-ups for wet races.

Alongside second-placed Wurz, Williams fielded Nico Rosberg, who ended the session fifth fastest. And at Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were in charge of testing duties. Raikkonen covered 88 laps to take fourth and Massa, who managed 48 laps, took seventh slot.

Honda’s Rubens Barrichello finished sixth in the RA107, after taking over from team mate Jenson Button, who ran on Wednesday. Barrichello was joined by IndyCar driver Marco Andretti, who tested the team’s RA106 for a second day and got his first taste of driving a Formula One car in the wet.

Toyota race driver Jarno Trulli and test driver Franck Montagny were eighth and ninth respectively in the team’s new car, the TF107. While Trulli took charge of testing an updated transmission, Montagny took advantage of the rainy conditions to evaluate Bridgestone’s wet tyres.

“It was an interesting day because we did a lot of laps and that was just what we needed,†commented the Frenchman. “We were able to evaluate a lot of information from the wet and extreme wet tyres after working on settings and tyre pressures. Now if it is raining in Melbourne for the first race we will be well prepared!â€Â

For the third day in succession both Red Bull drivers, Mark Webber and David Coulthard, were in action in RB3s. While Webber finished 11th, Coulthard took 10th after covering 69 laps. Although both have been hampered during the three-day test by a variety of issues, including a drive shaft failure and a gearbox glitch, the team were pleased with the progress of their Adrian Newey-designed 2007 challenger.

“It was still a productive test, during which we got through all our planned programme and made progress over the three days," explained Ian Morgan, the team’s chief test engineer. "The working relationship with Renault continues to grow and we got on top of our problems, covering a respectable mileage."

Meanwhile, both McLaren drivers seemed to struggle in the wet conditions with tester Pedro de la Rosa and Fernando Alonso ending the day in 12th and 13th respectively. De la Rosa completed a limited programme, while Alonso, who had evaluated Bridgestone’s wet tyres in Valencia last week, stayed out for just nine laps in the MP4-22.

Testing resumes at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya next week, with a three-day session scheduled to begin on Monday, February 12.
