Chandler Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 Looks like we're not the only ones having Takeover Trouble Whadaya mean TROUBLE? DIC have been gazumped by Gillette. Now, guess what nationality their gazumper is? Whadaya think I've been banging on about on this board for the past three months? Why do you think the Yanks are piling in here? Clue - the greatest show in the history of world sport begins on April 1st. And MM wants a front row seat without paying for his ticket. Go figure as they say down at the Home Depot Center!
Geo V Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 DIC Pulls out of Liverpool The takeover of Liverpool FC has climaxed with a late withdrawal from DIC that has left a bitter taste in the mouths of all Liverpool fans. DIC Heads were set to takeover the club this week promising to splash out on new players and so the news comes as a sucker blow to Liverpool fans who favoured DIC and who had warmed to the idea of having the backing of DIC. The saga ends Liverpool’s love affair with DIC whose interest in the club had meant that DIC was on the lips of every Liverpool fan for the past few months. But now they will have to do what they do best and put DIC behind them, and hope that George Gillett is the best a man can get.
Geo V Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 2pm press conference, more Yanks are a coming round them there hills. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...e+takeover+deal
Lester LXXIV Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 2pm press conference, more Yanks are a coming round them there hills. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...e+takeover+deal Yep, their's is completed, just ours that seems to be taking forever!
Geo V Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Yep, their's is completed, just ours that seems to be taking forever! Yeah but we only what someone to come in and save us from relegation whilst that Gillette bloke wants to come in and takeover Liverpool with an ulterior motive, so his cousin can sell his Gillette razor blades to this lot.. BTW, how long before the new owners make a move for the olympic stadium for Liverpool and move them down to London?! They love a franchise relocation in there team sports in the US and A. Wayda go Team Liverpool!! Wooooooooooo!!
Simi Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 They have said no to the grounshare. But will be re-naming the ground !
Geo V Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 They have said no to the grounshare. But will be re-naming the ground ! They may be renaming the ground if they can guarantee one massive signing a season with the incoming revenue. I saw the press conference and I must admit I was impressed with Hicks and Gillett. Infact I would go as far as to say I was envious! They seemed like fun people who understand our game and what is required for Liverpool as a club and a City. They have paid off the debts and there are no interest repayments and Rafa is getting a tidy transfer budget. They both kept on going on about there kids and they are making this a family business and almost something to leave there kids to manage in the future! My dad didnt even buy me a cheap car the barsteward!! One other point though, they did slip up with there Americanism`s linked to football by calling defenders "defencment", goalkeepers "goaltenders" the Charity shield as "that charity match in Cardiff". I was in stitches at some of it but Liverpool seem to be the real winners today.

Sounded like if it wasn't for Hicks the deal would not off gone ahead because he has more sporting success and experience. The guys seem genuine and I think we could be in for some funny interviews with these guys . Unlike Glazer who is yet to attend a United match.

Yeah they turned down the original Gillett offer in preference to the DIC bid but when Hicks came aboard they opted to give them ago. Im not convinced that these two will be flying over that often as they made it clear that they have about 5 sons each and one member of the family will be representing them for each game. i think the son who knows of the players through playing playstaion and knowing some of the names might be the first there. I just hope for Liverpools sake that he hasnt been playing the classic teams and expect to see Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen and John Barnes playing!
Lord Nibblington Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 I did see a brief interview with them this morning, and one of them said they were looking to bring success to this franchise. Good old Yanks!
