blue blood Posted 5 February 2007 Author Posted 5 February 2007 ok thats better. firstly, is it broadband or dialup internet? probably the easiest way to do it is to use a "cross over patch cable" to connect your laptop to his, you can then follow the windows add network link in my computer to add the laptop as a shared device, you can then use his internet. option 2, just plug your brothers modem cable into your laptop option 3 if you have broadband, is it wireless? do you have 2 or more ports (they will look like large telephone ports on the back)? you can connect a "straight through patch cable" to connect your laptop th the router.....
Lukeh Posted 5 February 2007 Posted 5 February 2007 ok thats better. firstly, is it broadband or dialup internet? ntl broadband
blue blood Posted 5 February 2007 Author Posted 5 February 2007 ntl broadband on the back of your router have you got some sockets (look like large telephone sockets - should be labled up as ethernet)
blue blood Posted 5 February 2007 Author Posted 5 February 2007 Theres 1 spair thign and its blue socket.. ok now do you or your bro have a spare network cable the colourful 1's with 2 plugs either end again looks like a large telephone plug? if you have 1 end in the router and the other in the laptop...the direct connection should give you internet. are you wireless?
