Tommeh Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Anyone watvhing the game? Hate it how the commentators keep banging on about what an achievement it is to have 25k inside ewood park for what has to be Blackburn's biggest game of the season. Very good ticketing strategy for the game though, other clubs should follow
Joe. Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 That's terrible for a Premiership team to be pulling in 25k. Their fans take being in that league for granted... <_<
Leicfox Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 That's terrible for a Premiership team to be pulling in 25k. Their fans take being in that league for granted... <_< Not really that bad tbh, as if you think about it Blackburn have Bolton, Burnley, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, and all the other North West teams within very close proximity of it. Now Leicesters Attendence is shocking compared imo.
Joe. Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Not really that bad tbh, as if you think about it Blackburn have Bolton, Burnley, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, and all the other North West teams within 30-40mins of it. Now Leicesters Attendence is shocking compared imo. For a club that used to pull in 32,00 yes it is. 25k is only what they're getting because of cheap tickets. Any other day they'd be getting around what we have. Now that's bad...
Tommeh Posted 22 February 2007 Author Posted 22 February 2007 Are people realising that its kids for a fiver and adults a tenner, and ST holders free! Its also the last 16 of a European club competition! their ground holds 31k!! most championship teams get 20000 + these days for normal league games. plus there was loads of spare seats in their end at the Emirates on saturday.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Why wasn't Barnetta playing for Leiverkusen from the beginning, he is a quality player.

To be fair, they only had 3 days to buy tikcets and it was like 12:00 kick off. they do have shit fans though.
lookwhaticando Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Several causes: Midweek game... in the UEFA cup - not a domestic title. Against Bayer Leverkusen - who cares? Probably broadcast on the telly - I know it was being broadcast in the USA, so it was surely being shown in the UK on one channel or another. Plus the usual factors of having about 200 clubs all vying for the same fan base. But... who cares? Blackburn are going to do some interesting things with pricing, and it might stop the rot as far as attendances go... and good luck to them.
Maybes Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Blackburn have terrible fans. They hardly take any fans on their travels either.
Craig Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Their fans are awful. That FA cup match proved just how bad. 7,000 of us, and only 13,000 of them, if that.

Are people realising that Leicester has a population more than double that of Blackburn, but we havent got double the attendance. I'm not arguing that Blackburn have great fans because they don't, but it's harder for small towns to pull in big crowds. That's why Bolton and Wigan don't have big crowds on a consistent basis. An exception to the rule is Sunderland, a relatively small town that regularly has 33000+ at home games and usually takes 3000 to away games. Great support.

Ironically Burnley have regularly been considered one of the best supported teams based on population with crowds of 10,000 plus in the Championship out of a population of 70,000. Everyone bangs on about Leicester getting crowds of 40,000 if we get back in the premiership but the fact is until we came to the Walkers we had not had crowds of 30,000 since the mid 70's at Filbert St. Granted the ground capacity was reduced but regular attendances were at times erratic especially in the 80's and went down to as low as 8,000 in the David Pleat era.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 February 2007 Posted 24 February 2007 Blackburn fans are awful. Fact. Their ground is one of the most empty this season, and they've been in Europe as well this time round. That's shocking. Not exactly an awful lot of noise coming from their ground either iirc.
