Mourinho - got to love him

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out ever signing David Beckham or any of Real Madrid's other "Galacticos".

Beckham reportedly told Chelsea last summer he wanted to join them at the end of this season.

But Mourinho said: "All you need is a strong group of players - you don't need a Hollywood star.

"What the devil is a Galactico anyway? The image comes from the social lives, and fame the players have achieved. It is those Galacticos that I distrust."

Mourinho, speaking in the News of the World, added: "My doubt about them does not concern their ability but what surrounds them and makes their performances inconsistent."

The Chelsea manager has made it clear he favours youngsters who crave success rather than big-name players known for their ostentatious displays of wealth.

Beckham has made headlines on the front pages as often as the back ones and, at the age of 29, he does not fit that profile.

Mourinho's transfer policy, which has been backed by club owner Roman Abramovich, served him well at Porto, where he won the Champions League last season.

The Blues boss - whose team are 11 points clear at the top of the Premiership - added: "I prefer players like Paulo Ferreira and Didier Drogba.

"I have an expensive car, but I don't make a collection. I don't have a taste for having 10 cars."

i know its not leicester related but i think he's a great manager, brilliant attitude and confidence in what he does. This though is th eicing on the cake for me, not many top managers would come out and say this, true quality and 100% true

This guy is the reason I want Chelsea to win the league. He is brilliant. Does not go for the superstars, he breads players that will be brilliant and good enough for the title. But they don't go about like they are the best. Like Beckham.

Mourinho has already proved what a top class manager he is with what he achieved at Porto, and now he looks like he's going to repeat his success at Chelsea. I have got a lot of respect for him and the way he handles himself and his players. Despite having a massive sqaud there are no rumours of discontent and everybody wants to play under him. Plus he's not afraid to speak his mind, but does so in a way that is admirable.

I didn't approve of his arrogance before he joined Chelsea, but I'm beginning to like his style now. He's done terrifically well this season, with quite a few new players that needed time to settle in. What I also like is his attitude towards the Carling Cup. He wants to win every trophy going, and that has been reflected in his team selections. I know he has a great squad, but he's still been playing first team regulars like Terry, Ferriera, Lampard, Makalele, Robben, Duff and Drogba from the start.

I don't neccessarily want Chelsea to win the league, but I hope they win the Carling Cup because they're the only team out of the big clubs who have taken the competiton seriously.
