Arguing with referees has become pandemic and I always cringe when I see teams mob the refs for calls that go against their team. This is absolutely the worst aspect of professional football, but it doesn't happen in any other popular professional sport. This isn't a rule change--expressing dissent in such a manner is a punishable offense according to the FIFA Laws of the Game, so it's time the authorities started enforcing the rules by booking or sending off offending players.
act smiley Posted 29 March 2007 Posted 29 March 2007 Offside is fine as is, far better than getting goals disallowed for stupid offsides, anyone with a braincell count higher than 3 could understand it... unfortunately, it seems that one or two of the refs out there don't. Dissent crackdown though, there are yellows to be dished out, so they ought to be. Bit of goal line stuff, maybe. I also think that injury time should be properly enforced by the 4th official and not the ref. Every sub should be 1 minute. Every goal should be the same and then any timewasting. You get gets of 6 subs, 6 goals and onlt 2 mins is added on FFS! Then you'd get fun things like in the Wales vs. Italy rugby match where the 4th official ends the match when the ref thinks theres still enough time for a corner. In theory the proper way of doing stoppage time is to have a second watch and stop-start it, then add the difference between it and 90. Although I've only done that once and it ruined it because there was 8! minutes due to the ball going over a hedge when it was spooned over a couple of times, went flying off into the distance on the other end, stacks of subs and a couple of goals.
