Thracian Posted 31 March 2007 Posted 31 March 2007 I hope all those who mocked Peter Crouch as an England striker and who've seen our woeful performances in his absence will have seen his hat-trick today...because it was one of the finest I've ever witnessed. Against quality opposition Crouch scored three totally different types of goals which only emphasised what a vastly underrated footballer he is. And for anyone wondering about the type of football that pleases me Manchester United gave a glowing example today, orchestrated by another man who has proved irreplaceable in the England set-up - Paul Scholes. If ever Hughes, Jarrett and Johnson want to know what I mean about driving into the box from deep or about playing simple but incisive passes, they should just watch videos of Scholes until something rubs off. Such football is not just about skills - it is about attitude.
Leonisco Posted 31 March 2007 Posted 31 March 2007 The thing about Crouch is, his ball skills are so much better than people ever give him credit for. Because he's tall everyone assumes he's there to win headers, but he's got two great feet.

Though I think the commentator hit the nail on the head when talking about Crouch after his headed goal - if he can meet the ball like that more often and on a more consistent basis, he actually will be a very special player.
Jordan Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 I didn't get to see Crouch's goals, but I did watch the second half of Man U-Blackburn--damn, they made a team that's 10th-place in the Premiership look like a Sunday league side. ...but Giggs' miss was hilarious
Spee-d Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 I have always rated Crouch even before he joined Liverpool. My only critisism of him was that he's not so good in the air for a big fellar. He showed yesterday he can be though. Mayeb that broken nose did him some good? Anyway with the strikers England have i still think Crouch is a plan B option, coming off the bench. Even though i rate him.
