Todt - We failed drivers

Ferrari's executive director expressed his apologies to 2006 drivers Daniel Cox and Chris Louth in a press conference earlier today.

Todt said; "We failed them, simple as. The car was never quick enough to catch the likes of Honda, Renault and McLaren."

He added; "Both drivers fulfilled the potential of the car."

After a disappointing 2006 season, Todt had hoped to re-sign both for the 2007 season. However Todt revealed; "Unsurprisingly, they wanted a fresh start and did not feel that they were happy with the car's performance."

Super Aguri reveal Renault rivalry

Super Aguri official Chinuka Wung Soo has told press of a rivalry between his team and Renault. He stated that an incident in the pit-lane in last years race in Montrael left him furious. Super Aguri were close to snatching their first ever point in F1 but a Renault in the pit-lane purposely slowed down, making the Aguri driver lose time on track and his position.

(Basically Paul Hills (in 7th place at the time) slowed down in the pit lane as his team-mate Matt McCaughan (in 9th) tried to put pressure on our driver. Also coming in, Paul came to a halt and our driver could not react quick enough to brake. We had a strategy but the damage on the car meant we had to fix it, taking about an extra 11 seconds. Both cars finished the race outside the points.)

Chinuka ended the press conference laughing at Renault's practice session times for the season opener in Melbourne.

Teams Demand Answers

A group of this years competing teams, headed by Super Aguri are threatening to create a new super F1 breakaway league if the FIA governing body do not sort out when the season will commence. A statement from the Japanese racing team said: "It seems we are all getting frustrated by the continual delays to the start of the new Formula Foxestalk 2007 season. Every team except Williams do agree that the start time is ridiculous and a breakaway is a thought process we are mulling over."
