BigGibbo Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 the krauts bundesliga aint a patch on our championship for excitement & not much better in quality . . . . .
potter3 Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 You'd rather pay £35-50 to watch a game in the "Premiership" than £10 to watch a game which is more unpredictable and exciting? Discounting prices. I'd rarely pay to watch a game unless Leicester/England was involved.
Floating Fox Posted 14 May 2007 Author Posted 14 May 2007 Discounting prices. I'd rarely pay to watch a game unless Leicester/England was involved. Exactly, Its about the fans going to the game, not the ones who watch on TV. I wonder why the German attendences are higher than english? I quite like this section: "They also share a friendship of sorts. Back in 1999, a fan exchange took place. Schalke's representative, Dirk Martensen, set off for the Toon - knitted beer can holder around his neck, wrists decked in blue-and-white scarves - to meet Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd. The two discussed ticket prices: at that time Schalke charged about £3 for the cheapest ticket. 'Oh you won't win anything charging that,' said Shepherd. 'Our fans expect the best players.' Martensen smiled sagely and said, 'We won the Uefa Cup two years ago, what have you won?'" Discarding Loyalties here, would you rather have high quality, crap atmospheres, neautralised football, no beer in the stands, high prices OR Slightly lower quality football, cracking atmospheres, safe standing areas, Beer allowed during the game? I think the choice is obvious.
Lord Nibblington Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 Frankly, we overrate the quality of the Premiership. I'd say more. But I can't be arsed.
