David O'Leary Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 assuming everyone is fit and well 1.strauss 2.trescothick 3.cook 4.vaughan 5.pietersen 6.flintoff 7.nixon 8.s.jones 9.broad 10.hoggard 11.panesar
Samu Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 Trescothick Cook Vaughan Pietersen Collingwood Flintoff Rashid (maybe not yet but he can both bat and bowl) Nixon Broad Simon Jones (if he can rediscover his form of 2005) Hoggard
Flynny Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 If I was picking right now, for say, the Indian tests coming up, I'd probably go for: Strauss Cook Bell Pietersen Collingwood Vaughan Prior Harmison Hoggard Sidebottom Panesar Flintoff looks to be out most of the summer. Strauss isn't scoring too well lately, but pushing for a Trescothick recall right now isn't the answer. He hasn't been in the runs at all really apart from the massive score he got in that pre-season friendly. Sidebottom probably needs to get good figures in the next two tests if he wants to nail down a semi-permanant place. I don't see why he and Hoggard can't play together, though.
Father Ted Posted 5 June 2007 Posted 5 June 2007 Strauss Trescothick Bell Vaughan Pieterson Flintoff Collingwood Nixon Harmison Hoggard Panesar
David O'Leary Posted 12 June 2007 Author Posted 12 June 2007 the thing is that county cricket and test cricket standards are quite a lot different, and tresco said he was ready for the last ashes but left the tour before a ball had been bowled, i dont think rashid should play, he is a great all-rounder for the future but we shudn't push him to quickly
Ultra Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Prior will be in the team for years, especially with Peter Moores in charge. Can't see Nicko getting a look-in...
Flynny Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 What possible case is there for introducing Nixon to the test squad right now?
Ultra Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Unless Prior picks up an injury, none whatsoever. And Nixon has hardly shone in a poor Leicestershire team since returning from the World Cup.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 TrescothickCook Vaughan Pietersen Collingwood Flintoff Rashid (maybe not yet but he can both bat and bowl) Nixon Broad Simon Jones (if he can rediscover his form of 2005) Hoggard Bit silly not picking the best player.
Ultra Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Especially when Murali and Kumble are the only two spinners ahead of him in the world rankings..
