Mr Happy Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Now I know theres a similar topic (on the 3 year plan) so I'm hoping this isn't too identical but if the mods feel it is then please close. When Levein took over as gaffer, he set up a 'plan' for the future of Lcfc. This consisted of getting rid of the older, higher earning players and bringing in fresh, new, younger hungrier players. In reality we really got (during his reign) was a load of scottish rejects, Hammond (whos 3mth loan turned into a full contract within the space of a couple of weeks after we sold the brilliant Connelly) and of course Iain Huuuuuuuuuuuuume! (possibly leveins best move, well besides leaving us ) The failure of this 'plan' (as in that almost every player that was signed by Levein has now moved on from lcfc and the gaffer has gone too, whilst we still remain in the championship) could be put down to us not having a hungry chairman who wanted success at any cost; or the manager not being the right bloke for the task ahead of him; or just that the players we had weren't bothered about our club or how they performed for us. Any of those is possible and the last thing i'd imagine any city supporters want to see now is a repeat of previous seasons - mistakes just aren't an option any more, we have to get it right straight from the off - which shockingly could of been straight away when everybody was comparing MA's appointment as manager to that of RK in the beginning but now we've let him have his say and do his job it seems that we've all warmed to him as gaffer. So yes he proberly doesn't know which came first: the chicken or the egg but, hey, who does? I believe hes got the right qualities for the job (he talks the talk, now hes just got to walk the walk) and more importantly IMO is fresh and hungry like milan. New gaffer, new owner, new squad - not looking s'bad - so as we enter a new era in lcfc's history with Milan at the helm and his grand '3 year plan' beginning to swing into motion, i'm just beginning to wonder about certain aspects (possible flaws?) to his plan, for instance: 1) I try not to be too pessimistic about our chances this season, I honestly believe we can get promoted through the play-offs, but if the worst happens does milan have a plan B? 2) If we start on a 'leeds downward spiral' (please lets hope not, I couldn't take that) will Milan still want a league 1 club? 3) If 3 years isn't enough will Milan sell us? (remember he said he'd be a failure if he couldn't get us promoted within 3 years) 4) If we do get promoted this season, through whatever means, but are then relegated from the premiership hows does this affect the '3 year plan'? 5) If all doesn't go as planned within the first 1-2 years and we remain a championship club will MA be sacked? 6) How many of our current squad will still be here in 3 years time (if anything mentioned above happens)? I know the two plans I've mentioned are different in the fact that a chairmans plan is possibly more important than a managers but both are still prone to failure. I must state that I seriously hope this isn't the case for us this season (premiership beckons for us next season, back to the holy land with any luck ) but I believe we must be prepared for the worst outcomes possible!

We have 3 years. 2. Why would we "start on a Leeds downward spiral"? What parallels are there? 3. Why would he sell us after 3 years? He wants to make money on his investment. 4. Well, obviously it's no longer a 3 year plan is it? 5. Again, we have 3 years and it will depend on PROGRESS. 6. String, piece of. There's a lot of waffle but no discernible point.
