Jonno Posted 2 August 2004 Posted 2 August 2004 What did Barcelona make in gate revenue? Say £20x30,000 (and it was nowhere near that, what with kids tickets for five quid, season ticket discounts, people with free tickets etc), that's £600k. That's all it made, apart from maybe a couple of thousand from program and match ball sponsors. The tournament was broadcast to India and other places on a few different channels and had millions of viewers (East Bengal = Man Utd in India). They would have got well, well over a million from that. Plus the Sponsorship deals with not just Pepsi who'd have paid a shitload but all the other sponsorship that came with it. As for it being shit for the fans - ask some of the thousands of kids who went to watch Leicester against Mallorca for free, I think they'll have enjoyed it. I think most people who went to the City game on Sunday would have enjoyed it, it was a good game and Leicester thrashed them. That has to be the biggest load of b******s I have ever read. City lost in the region of 150-200 grand on this idiotic event. Pepsi sponsored it for next to nothing as one of the directors on the LCFC board is a senior execuitve at Pepsi. As for the TV rights to India, they could never charge that amount of money, and it was given to them for nothing in the vain hope that some big Indian tycoon would have watched and thought to invest. All in all a total farce from start to finish. I don't like having a go at the Club, but when people are employed to do a job and fail so miserabley at it then I get angry. Mace Out.................................................. Wrong. We made a very healthy profit from the tournament. Far more than we'd have made from a one off game, and far more than we made from Barcelona last year. It's a fact!

Macca4lcfc Posted 3 August 2004 Posted 3 August 2004 does it really matter? its gone now, it was crap for the fans, so wether or not the club made money isnt going to make a difference. whats the point in arguing how much was made? cos really its not going to make a difference to whoever on here is right, it will still be a crap tournament, the barcelona game will still be better, and the club will still have made/lost the same amount of money wether you argue about it or not! so is there a point???
andy_croydz Posted 3 August 2004 Posted 3 August 2004 yes well after everyones ranting and raving about money this money that loss/profit blah blah i enjoyed the whole weekend of it even if there wasnt many people still really nice to watch a game of football and see how teams from other countries play
