Stoke sign Ricketts...

Stoke City have signed Leeds United striker Michael Ricketts on a month's loan.

The former Middlesbrough hit-man began the season as first choice with The Whites, but poor form and new signings have left him out in the cold.

With Ade Akinbiyi set to leave, The Potters have decided to bring in Ricketts in order to bolster their goal-shy strike force.

Ricketts, once capped by England, had hoped to recapture his form at Leeds, but has failed to produce netting just once for Kevin Blackwell.

Blackwell was unhappy with the side's show at Wigan at the weekend and had earlier hinted change was forthcoming in his squad.

"I now know certain players are a bit short for big games. I need to strengthen the squad," he said.

Ricketts could be thrown in at the deep end and make his Stoke debut when the side clash against Leicester City on Tuesday night.

He's been shocking at Leeds/Middlesbrough - I just hope he doesn't rediscover his England form. ;)
