Same Old Formation

Yet again we have huffed and puffed and got stuffed by an obviously inferior team who haved closed down in midfield , got everybody behind the ball, packed their box and nicked the points with a breakaway goal.DeVries and Connolly were abysmal today ,but we've got nobody else to play instead.

Surely the answer is to play the 4-5-1 formation that worked so well at Charlton and seems more suited to the players we have, especially DeVries.Connolly must be left out altogether.

too little too late IMO

better go for it at 1-0 with 20 mins left and lose 3-0 than carry on the same and end 1-0

hughes came on TOO TOO late IMO, we lacked creativity through the middle 2nd half but he only came on with 5 minutes left

same with tommy, not enough time to impress when you;ve got the numpties upfront before him

I thought our midfield was far too deep at times. The ball just seemed to bypass the midfield and go straight to Connolly and de Vries who were useless for the majority of the game. Credit to Gillespie who put in another good performance. I'd like to see Kenton supporting Gillespie in attack a bit more but he did ok defensively. I don't think the defence did too bad apart from another lapse of concentration. Nalis ran around but can be a bit aimless. He gets in the way sometimes and slows some attacks down by not passing early enough. Although Joey's inconsistent, I think we missed him today. I think the five in midfield is the way to go to to give us Joey's holding abilities and the attacking play of Hughes and Williams.

Our lack of remotely adequate strikers, especially in the air, makes it a total waste of time pumping crosses into the box.By playing 4-5-1 we could use the skill of Hughes.Williams,Gillespie and the pace of Stewart and open up these teams packed with lumbering centre halves who we keep losing to.

Yeah, I tend to agree, the defence/midfield should have tried to draw the Forest midfield out a bit, then tried to get the ball into the spaces created.

ypu but instead we decided to start attacks too often with dabizas or heath who would pump it up to LITTLE man connolly to head it on

l o l z, yeah, great tactics... :nono:

Maybe it wouldn't have been quite so bad if the strikers and attacking midfield were making some runs off the ball, but they all seem to be too static, waiting for the ball to come to them, by which time they had 3 Forest players around them.

We need a couple of goal scorers - any striker with an ounce of creativity and a hunger to score would have bagged a couple yesterday.
