Thracian Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 Why do we give credence to these lone complainers? My life they take themselves so seriously. I've worked with the disabled in Swansea - accompanying people on interest trips, horse riding, disco's and so on. We played a wheelchair football match between The Super Crips and The Clumsy Crips and they loved it. All I met were well aware that they're handicapped and, just like the able bodied in other ways, were more than happy to take the mickey out of themselves and show that while they might have problems they've come to terms with them and are not in the least bit interested in feeling sorry for themselves. These shallow protectors of sensitivities want to find some real problems to deal with if they want to feel important. Cos the handicapped folk I met want to leave in the real world and join in with the real world - not be constantly cushioned more than is absolutely necessary for practical purposes.
