jammo_lcfc Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I have a ford fiesta 1999 T reg. Is it possible for me to change the in car door speakers for better ones? Do i have to use ford speakers and how would i go about fitting them? cheers
Samilktray Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Yes you can change them. They dont have to be Ford speakers, they just have to be the right size. And you could probably fit them yourself. If not go somewhere like Halfords, they have a pretty decent selection and will fit them for you.
allard7 Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 They are relativly easy to fit, i put some in my brothers car as he is useless at anything manual! All you have to do is find some the right size, but... not to powerfull for your stereo, as then you will need an amplifier, but you only generally need one of them for a sub. If you old ones are the same shape/size then they should slot in with the same wiring and everything.
Samilktray Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I think the door speaker size is about 13cm for Fiestas not entirely sure though, might be that size for an older or newer model than yours. I think its a case of connecting a few wires and maybe a bit of soldering, should be do'able.
DBEightyFive Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Well, you don't have to get the right size speakers...but it'll cost you a hell of a lot of dollar to remodel the interior door lining for bigger ones than the normal size. Might aswell buy a new car, probably be cheaper I would look at some component speakers but they could also be pricey but the sound quality is immense plus the good old 6x9s in the rear shelf to finish it off. Bollocks to any subwoofer stuff...not needed if other speakers are installed correctly with good quality amp, wiring and positioning.
