consty Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 I'm from Corby and i love irn bru, its my fav drink I've heard of this drink... I remember the 70's adverts 'made in scotland from Girders...'! Oddly memorable, somehow. If any of your corby-ers are members of the Corby Lions, let me know... I'm booked to entertain late November.
consty Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Confidence can make or break a striker.Fryatt and DJ for example both suffered from hideously low confidence last year, but both are having decent pre-seasons... You're right. BUT lack of any one of the following will also break a striker/damage their confidence: ability, motivation, effort. Fryatt's lacked all 3 for 2 years. DJ appeared to lack the last two in his first season here. Fryatt didn't have a bad preseason last season - Allen 'bigged him up' & made him player of the tournament in his joke team building preparations. So his confidence was high. He was still $hit. I hope he finally gets it together. But let's put it this way, I wouldn't put money on it. Howard will do what Fryatt did last season if he stays - follow one bad year with yet another. I'm sure Fryatt will do better than Howard, but that's not saying very much.

Every game I have seen him play (usually coming on as sub in that time), he seems to have worked hard and been a bit unlucky or things haven't quite come off. There are plenty of players who have put in far less than Fryatt over the last couple of seasons.
consty Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 to be fair, I think you're right I did over-state this. However, he was very frustrating to watch miss chance after chance last season. 2 years ago he did seem to lack motivation as well. last season he tried harder, but his game seemed to have gone in terms of being able to do what a striker should do - put the ball in the back of the net. As I say, I expect him to do better than Howard this season.
