Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 If we keep playing no hopers fryatt hayles howard then look forward to dropping down a league again i dont think theyve got 20 league goals between them and the youngsters ie sapp etc will go Confidence can make or break a striker. Fryatt and DJ for example both suffered from hideously low confidence last year, but both are having decent pre-seasons. If they can translate the current level of confidence into the season proper then I doubt we'll be dropping down a level.
Maybes Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 As poor as he has been for a while Matty Fryatt actually impressed me today. I hope he continues in the same fashion.
portsmouth fox Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 fryatt back in a league he came from and doesnt even deserve this level give him to kettering and he might get ten goals i doubt worst striker ever bouhgt by us dosent give nothing but problems
clazkel Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 fryatt back in a league he came from and doesnt even deserve this level give him to kettering and he might get ten goals i doubt worst striker ever bouhgt by us dosent give nothing but problems How does he give problems?
portsmouth fox Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 hes slow cant control a ball no one touch only to opposition and he dont score
Thracian Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Sounds like DJ had a half decent day. I'd have liked to have seen how his partnership with Fryatt could have developed but Howard was bought on soon after the two started to link up (correct me if I'm wrong). Also sounds as if Morrison may be a bit shaky at the back. Would soooner see Worley start ahead of him. DJ looked hot. He took his goal calmly, linked up well with Gradel and made a succession of dangerous runs. But with DJ, Gradel and Ashley Chambers all offering pace in the second half it was such a shame that Howard was so rarely to be seen and so off the pace by comparison.

Looking useful against a Conference side does not guarantee plenty of goals in League 1.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 hes slow cant control a ball no one touch only to opposition and he dont score Total rubbish. He's a player who can use both feet, a rarity today. Last season he was poor but his past history and touch tell me he's a quality striker who has lost confidence..................with 7 different mangers wouldn't you?
portsmouth fox Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 bollocks did you mean no he has no balls are you a kettering fan hoping he can play netball wake up and smell the roses

I don't recall pre-season last year being particularly good at all. I'm not saying that goals against Kettering=Goals in League One, but scoring, and playing well, in pre-season, will surely be of huge benefit to his confidence. We're more likely to see goals from him if he has the belief in his own ability. If he needs a couple of performances against "lesser" sides in order to regain that belief, so be it.
Maybes Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 hes slow cant control a ball no one touch only to opposition and he dont score . Erm didn't he get on the score sheet today?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 . Erm didn't he get on the score sheet today? I think we may have found the new ash17lcfc.
Guest Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 I think we may have found the new ash17lcfc. We ain't got rid of the old one yet, more than one would be unbearable
Unabomber Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Henderson 7 - Can't recall him making any big mistakes. Gilbert 7 - Was composed on the ball and often got forward, also linked up well with Adams. Morrison 6.5 - Won alot in the air, needs to be calmer when under pressure. Hobbs 7 - Was solid throughout, also was pleased with his distribution. Mattock 6 - Was ok sometimes looked abit indecisive on the ball, but had a solid game Adams 8 - MOM for me, had a good game, was involved in alot of positive parts of the game, scored twice. Weso 7.5 - Played well, tackled well and rarely gave the ball away Oakley 7 - I thought that he had his best pre season game so far, looked calm and led the team, gave the ball away a couple of times though. Dyer 6.5 - Didn't see too much of the ball and was closed down quickly. Fryatt 7.5 - Played well, held the ball up well and set up DJs and scored himself. Hayles 6 - Was ok, his touch was abit heavy and looked off the pace, did well to set up Adams. Subs Gradel 7.5 -Always looked positive, tried to take on his man and whip the ball in, all you can ask of a winger. Got cynically taken down a few times. Howard 5.5 - Didn't do alot really, should have been stronger, and doesn't look sharp enough imo. Worley 6 - Was sound defensively but his distribution was poor. Pushed up alot though. Logan 6.5 - Didn't have alot to do, but his kicking was improved in comparison to the Luton game. J.Chambers 6.5 - Sometimes looked clumsy on the ball, but gave his all and often looked for the correct pass. DJ 7 - Was lively and took his goal well, played abit too deep often looking for the ball though. Kishishev 7 - Was fairly solid, didn't command the midfield as well as he could. A. Chambers 6 - Didn't provide enough as was careless with possesion, the ball was often played to Gradel though. King 6 - Wasn't at his best, he didn't get forward enough to help the strikers.
Bert Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Hendo 6 - Should've dealt better with their goal. Gilbert 6 - Solid Mattock 6 - Looked shaky early on, but recovred well and did ok. Morrisson 5 - Didn't impress today. Hobbs 6 - Calm and collected, never troubled, but had didn't have much to do. Adams 7.5 - 2 goals from a winger, always looking to support the attack. Dyer 5.5 - Worked hard, but that's it. Weso 7.5 - Looked like the Weso of old, very good half. Oakley 7.5 - Always there for the pass, ran his socks off - they got more of the ball when he went off. Fryatt 8 - ran the channels really well, when normally he'd be offside, a goal, an assist and a hand in Adams 2nd. Top stuff. Hayles 5 - Forgot he was playing. J.Chambers 6 - Mothing spectacular, but you can always depend on him. Kish 7 - I cannot see why he only played 2 games last season. Howard 5 - Moaned, huffed and puffed. DJ 7.5 - Looked very lively, hassled alot, made space, good runs and scored with a sublime lob. Gradel 7 - You can see this boy is going to do well next season. A. Chambers 6 - One delightful run and nutmeg, but no end product King 5 - Not enough time to make any sort of impact. Logan 6 - Didn't have much to do. Worley 5.5 - Didn't see much, would like to him start over Morrison next game.
Tevez Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 His first game back from a hernia operation and he got the assist for Fryatt's goal. Don't abuse Father Ted Simon. He'll start sending you abusive e-mails.
