Ok, it's only pre season but we shouldn't of conceded half the goals we did (Hinckley especially). Hobbs and Morrison can't rely on themselves without Tunchev, very worrying. Also what are everyones views on Gilbert?
clazkel Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Having been all friendlies apart from Palace, the defence is what worries me the most. I think Gilbert seems quite solid and supports Gradel well so i think him or Chambers are fine in the RB position and Mattock on the left will also be fine. It the centre of defence that worries me, i thought Worley looks good the few times i've seen him pre-season but Pearson doesn't seem to be giving him a chance. Morrison is unreliable at the minute i think he needs more experience at this level. Therefore it leaves Hobbs and Tunchev, who i think will do a decent job, but i think when Kisnorbo's back he will get back in the team, but who knows alot can happen between now and then. I would like to see Worley given a chance tho! But our defence does look dodgey at times and its what worries me the most. I know many fans don't want N'Gotty to play as he is slow, but maybe some games he can play alongside Tunchev or Hobbs as he has got alot of experience. He was a different player at Stoke the last game of the season so he has got it in him, its just whether he can be bothered, but he has loads of experience so he might be worth a shout every now and then.

I am slightly worried, from what i hear it was Mattock on saturday at palace, i though he was at fault or contributed for 2 of the goals againast brum too. In regards to the centre backs, i think they are all a little raw other than tunchev, who i'm sure will be a decent signing. I don't think we can really judge on pre season. I'll take winning 3-2 or 4-3 every game
Ultra Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 With James Chambers leaving, we need at least one full-back as cover, if not two. But Tunchev, Worley, Morrison and Hobbs between them (plus Kisnorbo when he's fit again) should cover the centre-back positions.
