Sparky Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Oh Shane. I hope Roberts is alright, mind. And Mortlock too, fair play - nobody likes to see that. England pretty shocking again, haha, although fair play the ABs really are a class above. We were similar to you in the fact we were in it till 60 mins, but then fell apart but few decent signs today . All Blacks are awesome and a pleasure to watch but in 3 years time when it actually matters you wouldnt bet against them chocking again !!! Tell you what Finners if the Lions test team were picked today it would probably contain 9 - 11 Welshman !!
Finnegan Posted 29 November 2008 Author Posted 29 November 2008 Narh it wouldn't. It'd be 2805725988353 English and lose. The Lions is full of bias!
dandannieldanok Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Well done to Wales today, only saw flashes of the game but whatever it's a great result. As for England, at least they were reasonably competitive today. In the end though the inevitable happened and they overran us. As Sparky says the game ran a similar course as to Wales' game last week, although Wales were more dangerous in attack than England.

Best season of Welsh rugby in decades, some incredible form players and an incredible England bias in the squad.

Best season of Welsh rugby in decades, some incredible form players and an incredible England bias in the squad. 2005 had the world cup winning England coach who picked alot of the 2003 world champions who most were past thier best and it was a joke desision purely by the head coach of that tour . Although in fairness the only welsh guys who made a difference were Jones and Alfie and arguabally Jenkins , Henson and Williams when given a chance failed to deliver . This year will be different , ill put tons of cash on Wales having far more players than the rest of the home nations . I actually think Ryan Jones will skipper the tour . With Jones as skipper and Gatland and Edwards involved there is no way on this planet there will be English bias . At the minute i see no more than 5 English in the squad and 1 or 2 in the test side
Sparky Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 , wouldnt have been concerned if we had a tri nations country as top 2 go through . We got done 36-0 in the group stage but still made the final
Finnegan Posted 1 December 2008 Author Posted 1 December 2008 True. Though I'd have loved to get in that group and avoid a group winner in the second round. Although actually, on current form there are potentially two teams in that group that could beat England while you'd have to hope our slip up against Fiji in France was something of a one-off (particularly now with Gatland and Edwards) so maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Still, South Africa? Siiiiigh!

Very true. I think we'll just about be stronger in three years, hopefully. The likes of Shane and Shanks will be on their way out and I don't think Martyn Williams will be there. But Henson could be in his prime playing with Roberts as a strong center pairing, Hook and Phillips should be peaking if all goes to plan and Halfpenny and Stoddart should also be coming through strongly. There's a lot of exciting prospects in our ranks at the moment.

How olds Shane then ? He only looks early twentys
Finnegan Posted 1 December 2008 Author Posted 1 December 2008 Thirty, mate. He peaked really late. It's funny to think I saw his first ever international on the TV and thought he was useless.

Finnegan Posted 1 December 2008 Author Posted 1 December 2008 Harsh to think a man of his talents has only realisticly got 1 lions tour and a world cup left !!! Aye. 2003 was the year he really started to come alive, there's an amazing try we scored against England in the semis (er, quarters actually?) and we really started to grow after that. 2005 people actually sat up and went "Christ, he's a quality player." But the last two years have undoubtedly been his best. Will be gutting when he goes. I really hope Halfpenny can fill his shoes.
