City manager Nigel Pearson is optimistic that new signing Marc Edworthy will be fit to face Swindon Town at the County Ground on Saturday afternoon.

The 35-year-old defender was substituted after 30 minutes of the 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town in midweek with a calf problem.

But Edworthy has responded to treatment and should be in contention for another starting spot this weekend.

Pearson said: "Marc was effectively suffering with a dead leg after getting a very good block in in the first half on Tuesday night.

"Unfortunately it was something that he couldn't play on with at the time but I think he's got a realistic chance of being available for Saturday."

Meanwhile, Kerrea Gilbert could also be back in contention after recovering from a hamstring strain.

The right-back has not played since the 2-2 draw with Walsall on October 21.

Patrick Kisnorbo (knee), Stephen Clemence, Bruno N'Gotty (both Achilles) and James Wesolowski (ankle) remain sidelined.
