Any FT'ers live near Enderby?

I work in the Somerfield there and this afternoon a building caught fire after being struck by lightning!

Anyone else see it? The storm was unbelievable!

Not in but near Enderby. Some of those thunderclaps made my house shake!!

BTW, do you know Charlotte who works in Somerfield there?

Mmm... don't think so, and it's a pretty small shop so we all know each other. Unless she's new and I haven't met her yet, as there's lots of new recruits around at the moment...

The lightning which caused the fire also exploded a phone point in the store, literally blew the plastic cover across the checkout area! Set all the fire alarms off and the boss couldn't turn them off - we got to go home early cos we couldn't reopen the store!

I then promptly wasted my new-found evening watching yet another 0-0 on TV

She was working there last year, some time, I believe. Not to worry, she's just a friend of a friend that's all. :)

I live down the road from Enderby. I didn't even know there was a Somerfield there. Thought they had a Co-op and a half decent carvery pub. I'll ask my brother as he goes up there every night to his friends.

The lightning put some of the cabinet lights out at my work in the shires yesterday. Was a nuisance getting them back on.

I like thunderstorms, especially when I can smugly watch them from the indoors.

If I'm caught up in them on the other hand...

I'm the same. Love watching them from my window. But if i'm walking around outside i poo myself and run!

I was in a car that got struck by lightning about 16 years ago. The noise was mental. There were four of us parked outside my house cos me mates were droppin me off one night and it was lamping down. We'd had trouble getting to mine in the first place cos the rain was that bad cars were even stopping on the A444.

It was dark and when the lightning hit loads of curtains opened and folks looked out their windows cos the noise was that loud. All four of us all legged it out the car at the same time and me Mam made us a nice cup of tea and toast while they waited for the storm to die down.

I'll never forget the noise one of my mates made when we got struck! Very funny. :D

I can testify that a car is a safe place to be in a storm cos nothing happened to us (parked up, driving might be different).

A few years agpo when there a storm hit markfield all of a sudden lighning hit the ground about 1-2 metres away from me. One of the scariest things ever.

Me and my mates were taking cover under a roof because there were some huge hailstones.

They decided to run for it back to one of our houses and as we ran out from under the cover a fork of lighning came down right near us lol it did get us to run faster though

probably one of the most violent storms ive ever been in and it only lasted a little while, loads of car alarms were going off all over the place because of the hail stones being so big.
