dandannieldanok Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Good captain and batsman for England, will always be remembered for playing a huge part in the 2005 Ashes success. However, as Yorkshire fans will testify, he lost the taste for cricket after being dropped from England and subsequently put in some half-arsed efforts at county level.
Fox You Forest Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Decided to give up two weeks ago after being bowled by his son in the back garden.

Ultra Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Good captain and batsman for England, will always be remembered for playing a huge part in the 2005 Ashes success. However, as Yorkshire fans will testify, he lost the taste for cricket after being dropped from England and subsequently put in some half-arsed efforts at county level. In fairness, he played a few county games when well below full fitness. His knee's been fcuked for the last three years. But I'm sure he'll still have a career of some sort in the game.
Corky Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Fabulous captain, turned England into a real Test force, and an excellent top-order batsman, who the Australians didn't like bowling to (look at his record in the 2002 Ashes down under). He'd be a good batting coach.
Uncle Albert Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Fantastic skipper but batting? He was a good batsmen not a great, fantastic, wonderful batter. At test level he hit a decent number of hundreds but was never able to go on to a massive score but like Corky his record in the 2002 Ashes was very impressive. Vaughan never managed a hundred in ODI cricket. Taking nothing away from the man because tactical brain is the best I have seen at cricket. Had a brilliant cover drive on him, really hope he can go on to further his career in cricket with a good coaching role at Yorkshire or England.
Fosse Boy Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 A great player in his prime, but to be fair I doubt he was ever likely to get Test recognition again. Better to start a media career (or hopefully a coaching career) than waste away into relative obscurity on the county circuit.
