Free Falling Foxes Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Me and a few mates were wondering if anything like it exists in this area. I know of some elsewhere in the country. Basically, we are looking at 11 a side, full pitch etc. We might struggle with 90 mins mind you - 30 mins each way would be great. We're not bothered if it's anything too formal, just a 'kick around' would be ok. We're no way near the 'Father Ted' over 70s priests level of immobility but cant 'cut-it' with youngsters now. Well, not without resorting to less than sporting tactics.
Sir Fynwy Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 There is a veterans league, think you have to be over 35. Play matches every 2 weeks to allow injuries to recover, apparently there is loads of fouling and it's pretty nasty, when the pace has gone you resort to kicking. http://beehive.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/...me&ID=11467

Re the fouling. Yes, I'm aware of that - been guilty of it myself, hence my comment at the end of my OP. Trouble is; some of us would qualify for a 'over 50s' league so anything too physical would cut us in half now.

One of the 'lads' I know who is playing in the veterans league is about 20 stone (5'8" tall) and 48 years old, was a good player in his day but that is long behind him, can't fault him for still trying though.
