Dave-Pundit Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Ahh the league cup, the greatest competition in the world, it links the league and cup into one competition, how many competitions can boast that? It's just a shame with the influx of foreign managers, the great history and image of the League Cup has been ruined with the likes of Wenger, Benitez playing 2nd string sides, wouldn't see Brits like Fergie and O'Neill take a cup competition lightly. Arsenal v West Brom Short crisp passing, great movement, top quality goals, promising youngsters from around the continent, you've got to feel sorry for the fans. The fans want to see big tackles, will the Arsenal youths provide that? I doubt it. Verdict: 3-1. Bolton v West Ham These are the games what the league cup is all about, too mid-table premiership sides battling it out, only for one of them to be knocked out next round by a better team. Verdit: 0-1. Carlisle v Portsmouth A bunch of rank amauters vs a pretty big team in context, yep that's right, Carlisle vs a Bunch of rank amauters, this can only go one way. Verdict: 2-0. Leeds United v Liverpool What a game, my former club Liverpool vs Leeds United. People say Leeds have gone down in the last 6 or 7 years, I couldn't disagree more, I mean it's hardly a suprise they got relegated with non English speaking foreigners in the team like Viduka and Kewell. Since then they've brought in some real quality, Beckford and some other guys I have no knowledge about. As for Liverpool, managed by Benitez, we can only expect a weakened side in this one, so then it comes down to one question, Will Gerrard come on? No. Verdict: 2-1. Sunderland v Birmingham What a game this is going to be. Verdict: 0-0 (Someone to win on penalties) Aston Villa v Cardiff Two English teams battle this one out and what better way to win the match with a thumping header from the most English man on the pitch, James Collins. Verdict: 1-0. Chelsea v QPR I've got my doubts about Ancelloti, but then again if he keeps playing Terry there's nothing to worry about. Verdict: 4-0. Hull v Everton This won't even be close. Verdict: 0-3 S****horpe v Port Vale Two teams I didn't even know existed. Verdict: 2-0. Man Utd v Wolverhampton We all know Fergie will go full strength here and I'm sure all 14 players will be up for this one. Wolves are in great form but form goes out the window in a cup clash, I think United will come out on top though They've won their last 5 for Gods sake, noone can stop them on that sort of run. Verdict: 3-1. Barnsley v Burnley. If you had asked me about this clash a year ago, I wouldn't of known what sport you were talking about, luckily I watched Premiership years on Sky the other day and saw Barnsley on there, as for Burnley, I have no clue about so this can only go one way. 2-0.
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Do you have any jokes other than calling Scots, Welsh and Irish people English? Are you actually Al Murray's biggest fan?
leicesterfox86 Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Pretty competitive the Carling Cup this year isn't it? Lots of big teams left in there. This football blog talks about Tottenham making their third successive Carling Cup final, but they will do well with Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea all still involved! My money is on a first trophy for the Man City revolution actually.
