By Sunderland as well as Michael Bridges.

Thornton, now that's a surprising decision, he looked like a decent player.. anyone know much about him?

Sean Thornton would be a good signing. My Sunderland mate said that McCarthy does not like his attitude. He went through a stage where he would not turn up for training and come into the club drunk. But apparently he got over that stage , but McCarthy still does not like him.

I definately think we should pursue this guy, he is brilliant! My only concern is, as Muz said, his attitude and commitment can be questionable at times. Great prospect though!!!!

I went to watch the Sunderland match with some of my mates and I saw him speaking to Ally McCoist so I went over and listened to their conversation, he seems a down to earth guy, but as Leicesterboi said Im not to sure about his mc-ing!

I don't think there is any question mark over his ability - However, as Leicesterboi has pointed out, we're covered in that position with the likes of Hughes and Williams at our disposal. We need players in the positions Levein has stated.

And as he's transfer listed, I'm sure we won't be able to afford him anyway.

just got the full story on thornton from my mackem mate up here in newcastle. apparently he's a very talented player but a bit wild. the reason him and whitley have been released/made available for transfer is because they went a bit mental one night in the team hotel after too many drinks and started trashing it and peeing in the fountain so big mick got rid (allegedly obviously!)

Sounds like Steve Howey! I personally feel we do need one player to come into the midfield, now Lilly has gone and Hughes appears top dog for right wing at the moment! I'm not sure Thornton is the Man for this job! I'd like to see Adrian Forbes from Swansea come here to play the right flank, only a suggestion, but that'd slot Hughes nicely into the central midfield and give us a pacey winger!
